Under the AGPT
arrangements, the Bogong GP training program provides the teaching, learning support and
facilities needed to enable registrars to complete the fellowship of the RACGP
and/or the fellowship of the ACRRM.
For those with a special
interest in rural medicine, we also offer training to allow completion of the
Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP).
This means you can complete all your GP training requirements without having
to leave the Bogong region.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
Community training
Registrars must complete
community-based, supervised General Practice terms (GPT) in accredited teaching
practices. See our Training Locations for information about current accredited teaching
practices in the Bogong region.
Hospital posts
Depending on levels of
prior experience, registrars may need additional experience as a hospital GP
registrar.
The three large district
hospitals in Shepparton, Wangaratta and Albury Wodonga have enthusiastic
GP-friendly specialists to supply relevant generalist skills-based training to
GP registrars. A range of junior hospital rotations that are acceptable for
general practice training are available at these hospitals including:
- Anaesthetics
- Emergency Medicine
- General Medicine
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Paediatrics
- Psychiatry
